Todorov’s Narrative Theory

Todorov’s Narrative Theory

The narrative theory states most plotline's follow same convectional pattern, which included 5 stages.

Exposition stage also known as the equilibrium phase
-This stage displays normal life of the characters and everything is as it should be.

Development stage also known as distribution phase
-This stage features a problem, which disrupts the normal

Complication stage also known as realisation phase
-This stage involves the characters realising the problem/ disruption

Climax also known as restored order
-This stage involves the characters trying to repair the disruption, leading to a climatic build up.
Resolution also known as Equilibrium

This stage is the final stage where the problem is resolved and normality is restored.
