Drama Trailer Convention





Mise en scene
-The movie is set in a location that is realistic e.g average neighborhood, school and park 
-Costume worn by characters is casual and comfortable to portray them as relatable and realistic to the audience

Sound
-Non- diegetic music in drama films manipulate the audience emotions, though music such as orchestral, depending on the appropriate mood to add a sense of realism.
-Diegetic Sound is significant such as crying and shouting to create “Drama”. These sound effects complement the scenes, making it more intense.    
-First person (Protagonist) narrative is conventional in drama trailers. This allows the audience to gain information about the central character, as well as other important characters.      

Camera
Although most camera angles and shot are used in drama most common ones are
-Establishing shots to establish the different locations
-Close-up shot to emphasise facial expression of characters in intense scenes
-High angle to give the illusion of vulnerability and loneliness of the characters
-Fast handheld camera to evoke nervousness or slow pan used to draw out tension

Editing
-Drama trailer tends to focus on continuity to always maintain realism in the narrative; avoids using dynamic cuts that cause disruptions to the natural flow.   
-Fast paced editing is used in to provoke panic, keeping the audience intrigued.
