Music is crucial so much so it can make or break a trailer. Therefore picking the right music is important for a trailer to be memorable to the audience. The music used sets the tone and mood of a movie trailer. To ensure our trailer is effective and realistic we will need to include conventional music in drama films. The emotional orchestral music is commonly used in drama, gradually the tempo and pace are intensified building up to the climax.Below I found some non -copy write music that would be suitable for our film.
The first sound clip is a calm cinematic piano. This sound is suitable for our drama trailer because it will enhance the storyline, due to the soft and slow tempo. Drama tends to include music that evokes the audience to express strong emotions such as sadness anger and happiness depending on the sub-genre.
We picked the subgenre mental illness to focus on for our trailer; therefore using sound tack similar to this one will provide, the appropriate mood and adds a sense of realism in our trailer.
The non-diegetic sound of a slow piano is conventional in drama films. I think by using this when the character has a mental breakdown will be suitable. This is because it builds up the tension, therefore, moving the audience emotionally. By the climatic stage, the audience will feel closer and able empathise with the character so, adding this sound will give a melodramatic effect making the audience want to keep watching more.
In our trailer there are parts where we film out doors therefore the footage will likely to be distributed by ambient sound such as people and the wind. To overcome this, we will use automated dialogue replacement to improve the sound quality, by re-recording the dialogue by actors. Then inserting the sound to match the scene, which referred to as a looping session.
