Evaluation:Institution Analysis

What sort of company would have made your film?  How did you create your own production titles and how did you place them conventionally in your trailer?

In the modern film industry, it’s most likely for films to be produced with the help of two or more institution. To remain conventional we decided to include 2 different institutions for our A2 project. This helps indicate to the audience that our film is a big budget film, therefore suggests it’s highly likely to be successful and worthy of watching. We decided to carry on the institution from our AS product “ELIXIR HOUSE” and “LUMINESCENCE”. Before we didn’t have any symbols for our credit features, which we later realised was a weakness, as it’s didn’t stand out to the audience. However, for our trailer, we decided to add a symbol and motion to the credits to make it appear more professional and memorable. From a website, we downloaded a free image of a house symbol and an illustration of a light bulb. We imported them to Premiere Pro and aligned them side-by-side and using Adobe Caslon Pro front created the credit title.

The production titles in “ONE DAY” only appear for 2 seconds at the beginning of the trailer, which is conventional. As a trailer is only two-three minutes long its important to not waste valuable time, as it's expensive to produce. Additionally, the main purpose of a trailer is to promote the film, so having extended screen time for titles is unnecessary because it may bore the audience. Therefore a film trailer needs to contain the best parts of the film, to persuade the audience to watch it.
